Education and Research

Education

Education in the Neonatal Service is provided on an interdisciplinary level as well as for individual nursing, medical and allied health groups. The service is involved in the New Graduate nurse programme as well as recruiting and teaching Registered nurses with transferable skills, which are new to nursing neonates.

All nursing staff entering the service are expected to orientate to all areas. This is done in a structured and supportive way which includes supernumerary time working alongside an experienced nurse, and study days. Nurses are encouraged and supported to participate in post graduate study and other professional development activities appropriate to the service, and have access to courses run by the wider CDHB, eg. PDU and Learning and Development Unit.
