Please remember, limiting our interactions with others is our best defence against COVID-19. Please don’t visit the hospital if you don’t need to. The following level 2 visitor restrictions are in place for all Canterbury DHB health facilities:

  • Visitors will be screened and asked to provide contact details upon arrival
  • Visitors who are unwell or have suspicion of COVID-19 will not be able to enter
  • Aged residential care: no visitors, however, family visits for palliative care residents who do not have COVID-19 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Specific and detailed visitor restrictions that apply to each hospital are available on our COVID-19 page.

In this edition of the CEO Update…

CEO David Meates provides an update on facilities for the remainder of the Christchurch Campus and Hillmorton Campus, including sharing some artist’s impressions of the new facilities. He also asks everyone with a Canterbury DHB-issued cell phone to check and update your details in the phone book as a new mass text alert system is being set up to reach staff quickly in an emergency.

This issue also includes information about World Antibiotic Awareness Week; suggests ways for staff to get involved in Stop Pressure Injury Day; celebrates the arrival of a new freezer for the Human Milk Bank; congratulates Ashburton Hospital's Midwife Manager Julie Dockrill for her Woman of Achievement Award; looks at research into the psychological barriers for insulin use; and much more.

You can read the Canterbury DHB CEO Update in two different formats:
