Manawhenua Ki Waitaha Charitable Trust (MKWCT) has the mandate of Papatipu Rūnanga and is supported by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu (TRoNT) as the Ngāi Tahu representative body in Canterbury for health issues. Manawhenua Ki Waitaha Charitable Trust provide access to CDHB Scholarships, and are responsible for the appointment of Māori representatives who ensure manawhenua have oversight and influence on the decision making of the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB).
Māori and Pasifika scholarships are for Christchurch-based tertiary institution students who are studying a health-related NZQA accredited course and have whakapapa with Māori communities and culture links with Pasifika communities, and are also planning to work in the Canterbury district.
