Burwood Hospital does not have an Emergency Department. The nearest Emergency Department is at Christchurch Hospital.

Parking is available on site and also on Mairehau Road. Car parking areas for visitors can be reached via Entry 1 on Burwood Road.
The best entry and parking to use for patients having surgery is Entry 5 on Mairehau Road.
There is a car DROP-OFF ZONE for patients outside Burwood Hospital main entrance, see hospital map.
If you are a patient; you can be taken by car to be dropped off at the hospital main entrance.
Volunteers are on hand during the day to help people to find their way to appointments, or there are wayfinding maps and staff who can help you at hospital main reception inside the hospital entrance.
If you are a mobility parking permit holder you can park in one of the designated mobility car parking spaces located at the front and rear of the building.
There is bike parking outside the main hospital entrance for staff and public use.
Note: Bike parking is at the owner’s own risk, please remember to lock your bike securely.

A cafe serving takeaway refreshment and beverages is located on the Ground floor which caters for patients, visitors and staff.
A Unichem pharmacy is located in the main reception area in the hospital.
Our Volunteer shop offers a wide range of gifts, fresh flowers, magazines, The Press newspaper, toiletries, Dry Cleaning Services, and a small range of New Zealand Post Services.
