Patient and visitor guidelines at Alert Level 1 – updated 7 March 2021 

Alert Level 1 visiting guidelines are now in place at Christchurch Hospital.

  • Alert Level 1 visiting hours are 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm.
  • Only one visitor at a time, but it can be a different person each time.
  • All people attending an outpatient appointment can have one support person with them.
  • There can be more than one family member invited to attend a family meeting.
  • Parents and caregivers can be present in paediatric areas as normal.
  • Masks and face coverings are not compulsory but you’re welcome to wear one if you wish.
  • It’s still worthwhile to keep a safe distance from people you don’t know while you’re out and about. 
  • Please check in at the front door using the COVID-19 Tracer App. If you don’t have the app, make sure you keep a record of where you have been and who’ve you’ve seen.

Note: Parents and caregivers can continue to visit children's wards at any time.

The Emergency Department is for serious emergencies only, not for long-standing or minor injuries or illnesses which can be treated by your family general practice team or an after hours clinic.
