How to find a doctor for your child

It’s important to enrol your child with a general practice at birth or as soon as possible after that.

Being enrolled with a GP means your child can get free visits when they get sick. The process will be faster and easier, and the team at your practice will already know your child and their medical history.

The Ministry of Health has information about finding a GP, and advice for first health checks and ongoing care.
