Is immunisation safe for children?

The evidence is clear: Immunisation is safe. It protects your child from some serious diseases and helps to stop those diseases spreading. Immunisations are also free for all children in New Zealand.

Babies in particular are very vulnerable to diseases. Vaccination can save lives and prevent permanent disabilities caused by diseases such as polio and measles.

The Ministry of Health has more information about immunisations for children and babies.
