Chief Executive David Meates reflects on the government’s announcement that it has extended existing initiatives aimed at making access to general practice and pharmacy services more affordable for families with children, as well as for people with a Community Services Card and their dependents. He also talks about Canterbury DHB’s first ever Project SEARCH assessment session for 10 young people as one of Canterbury DHB’s initiatives to employ more people with disabilities.
This issue also highlights a study on helping obese patients lose weight, which has won a research team a prestigious New Zealand Medical Association award. We cover last week’s Countdown Kids Hospital Appeal ceremony, where a cheque for $85,674 was presented. We also welcome our new Pacific Portfolio Manager Finau Heuifanga Leveni.
