CEO David Meates congratulates the entire Surgical Services team for being awarded the Excellence in Surgery Award, which recognises the work they carried out in the aftermath of both the 2011 earthquake and the 15 March terror attacks in Christchurch. He attended the blessing for the new Outpatients extension at the Rangiora Health Hub, which staff will be moving into on 21 August, and thanks everyone involved.
This issue also introduces the Maternity Assessment Unit, which opens on 26 August, and its role as a dedicated one-stop-shop for women who have concerns during the second half of their pregnancy (from 22 weeks onwards), and promotes a new phototherapy machine that will allow clinicians to provide more UVB treatment sessions for patients with skin conditions like eczema, and much more.
